Annual Sports Equipment Inspection Guide for Primary Schools
A school inspection can mean a review of education or a check of the equipment pupils use every day. They serve different purposes. A primary school annual inspection of sports equipment focuses on the condition of PE and play assets, not teaching, learning or school performance.
Equipment may be spread across a sports hall, gym, playground and field, so it helps to define the inspection scope before the visit. AMD Sport Services carries out thorough visual inspections at least every 12 months. Some sites inspect biannually when equipment experiences heavy use. Inspections can cover basketball goals and backboards, gymnasium equipment, trampolines, sports hall equipment, athletics facilities, outdoor goals, play equipment and safety surfacing. Findings are recorded in a detailed digital report with photographs, itemised defects and recommendations.
This guide explains which equipment can be included, how findings are recorded and how a report can support maintenance planning. Where possible, AMD can also carry out repairs on site during the inspection visit, helping schools move from an identified issue to a practical next step.
